Technical Writer
Write end-user documentation, including online Help systems and Training manuals, to support CATAMARAN Enterprise RFID and Mobility software. Proactively anticipates end-user needs and concerns; and communicate with Operations, and Development team.
Qualified applicants will have 2-5 years of technical writing, editing experience and a bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism or equivalent experience.
- Create end-user documentation collaborating with Usability Teams, Development, Support, Training, Marketing, and coworkers within allotted timeframe.
- Leverage previous documentation, product specifications, and hands-on use of prototypes to develop online help systems and manuals.
- Scope work-load; create detailed project schedule, and track and report status to ensure on-time delivery of final documentation. Work closely with project stakeholders to ensure milestones and deliverables sync-up with other development dependencies and deadlines.
- Work proactively with development team and coworkers to ensure completeness and accuracy of content.
- Schedule and facilitate multiple reviews during documentation development. Research/resolve conflicting and/or missing information.
- Collaborate with others on functional specifications to ensure all deliverables follow guidelines for style, structure, flow, and format.
- Collaborate with Graphics Manager and Illustrators to develop supporting illustrations and graphics.
- Track and resolve documentation defects using an industry standard defect tracking system.
Qualifications:
- Ability to understand product engineering specifications and research content for user-level documentation and to collaborate with development teams is required.
- Experience creating product documentation simultaneous with engineering product development cycles.
- Requires understanding of and ability to address and balance differing stakeholders needs - Customers, Support, and Development department. Strong team orientation - flexible, easy-to-work-with attitude.
- Experience writing all types of user documentation of varying depth of coverage, presentation approach, and delivery medium for product of medium to high technical complexity. Experience documenting hardware and software products.
- Experience with and understanding of localization processes, project implications, and change tracking requirements a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work with little or no supervision. Dedicated, self-managing professional who will work additional time if required to meet strict project requirements and deadlines.
