Shipcom appoints RFID veteran as President
Growth in RFID solutions drives new corporate positioning for global strategies

HOUSTON, May 25, 2006 /PRNewswire/ -- Shipcom, a leading global provider of RFID and Mobility solutions announced today the appointment of John C. Shoemaker as President. Shipcom CEO, Abeezar Tyebji, announced that this newly created position is the most recent initiative in an aggressive growth strategy for Shipcom to leverage the rapidly expanding market opportunity for RFID and Mobility software worldwide.

Mr. Shoemaker has over 30 years in executive and management experience in high technology, with the last ten years focused in the automated identification and data capture industry, including bar code, active and passive RFID hardware, and services. He has been involved in several start-ups', the most recent being Matrics, Inc., of Rockville, MD, where he served as Senior VP of Business Development.

At Matrics, he led the effort to secure the industry showcase contracts with McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas and Hong Kong International Airport, each with RFID contract values exceeding $22 Million. In addition, he led the team that won RFID pilots funded by the TSA at a dozen airports around the world, from Beijing to Tokyo, from Nairobi to Schiphol to support the establishment of passive, UHF as a global aviation standard.

Mr. Shoemaker also was responsible for the RFID win in partnership with Raytheon for Accenture's U.S. VISIT Program for the DHS. In 2004, Symbol Technologies acquired Matrics for over $230 Million and he continued to serve as a Senior Vice President.

"We are very excited about having John join the Shipcom team as we look to broaden the reach of Shipcom around the world for different markets, including Aerospace, Defense, High Tech & Electronics, Medical Devices, and Transportation, said Abeezar Tyebji, CEO of Shipcom Wireless, "John's vision, leadership and demonstrated success at company building has served the entire RFID industry very well in getting traction for applications that provide compelling value for its users."

Before Matrics, Mr. Shoemaker was Vice President of Sales for Intermec's Amtech Subsidiary (RF vehicle tolltags and e-commerce) and responsible for organic growth of its RFID products and services where he conceived and executed the strategy to sell the entire subsidiary to TransCore Holdings for over $90 Million and became one of their Executive VP's. Mr. Shoemaker was also VP of Sales and Marketing for software products at BBN, Inc., (Genuity, now Level(3) Communications) in Cambridge, MA.

"We expect to deliver integrated software solutions that will help transform an organization's business processes and deliver intelligence real time where ever it is needed to affect increased visibility, continuous improvement and cost effectiveness. John Shoemaker's role as President will lead our efforts to work even more closely with our customers to develop and deliver solutions which serve their enterprise needs", said Abeezar Tyebji.
