CATAMARAN's development environment provides a single entry point
for customers to rapidly develop, configure and manage supply chain
applications based on data captured by RFID devices, sensors or
mobile devices. CATAMARAN streamlines the integration of supply
chain applications , without the need for basic programming in Java,
C++, or Visual Basic. The intuitive development environment has
a rich set of reusable application libraries and more than 100 development
tools, which enable easy and rapid customization. In the development
environment, applications are fully tested using a real-time simulator
to ensure that they function according to a customer's requirements,
without the need to physically connect to specific hardware. CATAMARAN
also has a simple interface for a customer to map event locations
to RFID devices, configure and test RFID devices using native protocols,
and optimize read rates based on business requirements and usage
such as with conveyors, shrink wrappers, or other equipment. Once
developed, applications are deployed to the production environment
using a simple copy process, with no intermediate manipulation of
data required.
Based on Microsoft technology, CATAMARAN’s production environment
includes the CATAMARN Engine, Dynamic Connectors, an Administration
interface, and RFID and mobility services.
A summary of Shipcom’s four development environment
interfaces follows:
Dynamic Connector:
CATAMARAN uses a dynamic mechanism of connecting and interacting
with several enterprise systems. The dynamic nature of the integration
is an enhancement over competitors in that the interface provides
powerful tools to send data to as well as extract metadata from
various enterprise systems using a common methodology.
RFID Configurator:
This tool provides customers with a simple interface to define business
locations and map RFID devices wherever they may be located. The
RFID Configurator also provides functionality to configure and test
RFID devices using native protocols, optimizing read rates based
on business requirements and usage such as conveyors, shrink wrappers,
or production lines. It also handles a variety of business events
and scenarios and based on the type of event processes the relevant
data only.
Screen Builder:
This tool provides a standard way to dynamically configure interfaces
for fixed and mobile devices. The interface consists of menus, screens
and messages that enable the efficient design of the screen layout
for each device and then using the transformation feature easily
copy the screens to multiple other devices. This is becoming increasingly
important as customers require access to data across multiple devices,
each with specific form factors.
Business Process Builder:
Developed from eight years of supply chain project experience, this
interface consists of over 100 wizards and reusable objects, which
enable the easy configuration of business processes and workflow.
These development tools are used for primary functions such as data
selection, aggregation, grouping, integration, transformation, and
validation in addition to error processing and alerts. These development
tools also provide a simple interface for customers who are not
experienced with basic programming languages such as Java, C++,
or Visual Basic. |
