Shipcom Completes Deployment of Its
RFID Application at Bell Sports
HOUSTON, Oct 11 /PRNewswire/
Bell Sports, the
leading designer, developer and marketer of head protection equipment and related accessories for numerous
athletic and recreational activities, has deployed a RFID
solution for products being shipped to Wal-Mart using
Shipcom's CATAMARAN infrastructure. Shipcom worked
in partnership with ODIN Technologies to implement a total
solution for the customer.
Shipcom has a history of rapid, robust and complex implementations. The solution at Bell Sports
included not only basic compliance but also a number of
complicated scenarios significantly different from other customers. In one scenario; Bell Sports required
certain data integrated with their backend
application. The data was sent on a configurable
interval or on demand and included the EPC number, GTIN,
Time of verification and Order Number.
Bell's Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Jeff Gregg
commented, "Our primary reason for selecting Shipcom was
the fact that CATAMARAN was a configurable system with no
predefined workflow, which allowed us to construct our
workflow without coding. User interface creation was
simple and straight forward, and provided a very practical
solution for our distribution and operations staff who
will be working with the system every day. CATAMARAN
was able to address our immediate and expected needs
without the confusion that can be caused by a lot of
unnecessary bells and whistles. We are also pleased that
Shipcom was able to support our aggressive implementation
timetable."
Patrick J. Sweeney, II President and CEO of ODIN
technologies commented, "Shipcom's experience was evident
in their on-time delivery and service level provided by
the team. We run our projects with military
precision and we don't have time for scope creep or missed
deadlines. The Shipcom team proved a valuable
partner for us."
"Bell Sports' interest in RFID adds to a growing number of
large
organizations that are discovering the power of RFID to
manage supply chain operations. Also, because of our
backend connectors we are able to integrate with backend
systems and using our powerful configurable workflow
engine are able to configure events so that most of our projects go beyond compliance and give tangible ROI to our customers," said Abeezar Tyebji, CEO of Shipcom
Wireless.
