Dr. Nitin Mehta
Dr. Nitin Mehta is the Chairman of the Board of Advisors. Dr. Mehta is an active investor through Mehta Family Group investment offices in Silicon Valley. He brings a unique blend of talent and experience of over 30 years to participate actively with founders/entrepreneurs in building winning companies. His strong academic background includes engineering and a doctorate in business administration from Harvard University. His spent several years in late 1970’s and early 1980’s in consulting with McKinsey & Company. His extensive general management experience includes several years of senior executive role and ownership at Royal Viking Cruise Line, and Handi-Kup manufacturing company. He and his partner led a $250 million management buyout at Royal Viking Line. In both cases, he was instrumental in dramatically increasing the value of the companies and then acted as an investment banker to realize liquidity for all partners. He was one of the earliest venture capitalist of Indian origin in Silicon Valley in late 1980’s as a general partner of Weiss, Peck & Greer. He continued his active direct investment through Mehta & Company which he founded in 1988 and has a portfolio of several very successful companies. He was President of Quadramed HIM Division, a public company for several years; ran Compex Legal Services as Chairman & CEO for a number of years, and has been deeply involved over many years in building Viking River Cruises and Shipcom Wireless Corporation to large enterprises. He is also investors in a number of VC, PE, and RE funds throughout the world. He currently serves on a number of boards and continues his deep passion to help entrepreneurs scale-up to build successful companies.
Harry D. Gatanas has more than 35 years of experience as a leader in DOD acquisition and procurement. As Executive Vice President of Serco Incorporated’s Defense and Intelligence Group, Gatanas was responsible for the company’s business with the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community. Prior to joining Serco, Gatanas served as the Executive Vice President, Strategic Programs, for SI International. Gatanas also served as President and CEO for MFN Global Services, L.L.C., a fiber-optic telecommunications provider for federal, state, local, and international clients specializing in global information grid solutions.
Gatanas’ government service included duties as the Senior Acquisition Executive for the National Security Agency (NSA). He was directly responsible for NSA’s acquisition mission, which exceeded several billion dollars a year for software, hardware and communication requirements, to include the management of all procurement activities. Gatanas also served in the U.S. Army and is a retired General Officer with over 28 years of leadership, contracting and acquisition experience. He served as the Army’s Director for Contracting, as well as the Assistant Deputy for Weapons Systems, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army. He also served as the Commanding General, of the Army’s White Sands Missile Range, where he managed a diverse technical workforce of scientists and engineers at a remote test site for rocket and missiles.
Gatanas studied at Harvard’s Center for Management Research, the U.S. Army War College, and earned a Master of Arts in Teaching, Wayne State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in History, City College of New York. Gatanas has numerous external affiliations, including recent service on the Board of Intelligence and National Security Alliance; Board of Advisors for the National Contract Management Association, the Procurement Round Table, and has been a presenter at AFCEA, AUSA, and various other conferences and symposia. Harry also served on several boards to include Serco Inc, ETI Engineering, and Shipcom Wireless.
Adil Zainulbhai currently heads McKinsey’s operations in India. He has been with McKinsey for 20 years, working in various industries, though primarily focused on the telecommunications and wireless space. Most recently, he has worked extensively with large companies developing telecom strategies, while also helping venture-funded startups within the telecommunications and wireless industries.
Mr. Zainulbhai has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Technology, with distinction, in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology.
Michael Ohanian joined the Board of Advisors in 2000. He is the President Emeritus of Intermec Technologies, the world’s largest supplier of barcode data collection products and services for industrial markets. Prior to his employment at Intermec, Mr. Ohanian was the VP of Electronic Systems at Martin Marrietta Corporation.
He is a leader in B2B E-Commerce, wireless, RFID, barcode data collection, web ,and ERP technologies, both domestically and internationally.
