| HP- Shipcom: Bell Canada's RFID Technosport Exhibit
Houston, June 21, 2004
Bell Canada Enterprises is the proud sponsor of the Olympic games. Bell wanted to showcase an exhibit, which demonstrated their commitment to the Olympic Games. Bell was in need of a mobile and technologically advanced exhibit that would interact specifically with each visitor.
The RFID-controlled user experience environment and wireless registration system was designed, developed and deployed by HP and its partner Shipcom Wireless. What made this project a success was not only the cutting edge RFID devices and wireless technology used, but also the efficiency and the knowledge of the team. The project was completed on a very strict timeline, 10 weeks after the initial concept was developed. Within seven weeks of the first concept server hardware, handhelds, wireless and networking gear, and software were all integrated together. This gave the Shipcom team only three weeks of execution and actual implementation. The teamwork accomplished by Shipcom was astounding and showed the agility of not only the team, but also their product. “What made this project such a success was not only the cool RFID, devices and wireless technology used, it was also the efficiency and effectiveness of the team and process leading to a successful delivery despite extremely tight timelines”. Shipcom's CATAMARAN was the RFID software used by the exhibit to integrate all the components.
